Higher taxes, more government
In Wisconsin, a Lake District is an additional government entity with the power to charge increased taxes.
A lake district could cost every Moose Lake property owner thousands of dollars in additional taxes. Unlike the MLAA, which Moose Lake residents can choose to contribute to — or not contribute to — lake districts have the authority to charge ALL lake property owners additional taxes to pay for projects. For further details, see FAQs Questions 1, 2, and 3.
A public meeting of Moose Lake property owners, “Creating the Moose Lake District,” has been called by the MLAA for May 5, 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Stone Bank School. Voice your thoughts and get your questions answered!
